Product Description
The outer packaging of this product is a simple, eco-friendly kraft paper box. Inside, you’ll find a traditional herbal sachet with a net weight of 30 grams. Each sachet can be used for about two months, and in dry environments, it lasts even longer.
The Story Behind the Sachet
This sachet is inspired by Qu Yuan, a famous Chinese poet and patriot, well known for his connection to the Dragon Boat Festival. But few people know that Qu Yuan was also a skilled botanist and an expert in the use of fragrant herbs.
Since ancient times, people in Chu (an ancient region of China) had the tradition of using fragrant herbs—wearing them, bathing with them, even using them in food. By the time of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, Chu culture flourished, forming its own unique style, separate from central China.
Qu Yuan’s family was one of the oldest and most noble in Chu. He grew up familiar with the plants and herbs of his homeland. In his famous work, the “Songs of Chu”, he mentioned 23 types of fragrant herbs and 12 types of aromatic woods, including Zelan, Baizhi, Jiangli, Liuyi, Osmanthus, Ligustrum, Ficus pumila, Pomelo, Bamboo, Cypress, Magnolia, Sichuan pepper, and more.
Qu Yuan often compared fragrant herbs to good character—noble, loyal, and virtuous—while using poisonous plants as metaphors for dishonesty and corruption.
Why Wear Herbal Sachets During the Dragon Boat Festival?
The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important holidays in China, and it’s also the time of year when yang energy (positive energy) is at its peak. But this season also brings humid weather, insects, and disease. Ancient people called this period the “Evil Month,” believing that harmful energies and illnesses were more common.
To stay healthy and protected, people wore herbal sachets, a practice known as “Fragrant Wear Therapy,” based on traditional Chinese medicine. These sachets are filled with natural, aromatic herbs that help:
✅ Ward off insects and pests
✅ Purify the air
✅ Prevent colds and other illnesses
✅ Bring a refreshing, calming scent
✅ Serve as a symbol of good luck and health
What’s Inside the Sachet?
We carefully selected high-quality herbs, each with its own unique benefits:
-
Mugwort (Ai Ye): Traditionally harvested around the Dragon Boat Festival for its strongest medicinal properties. Our mugwort comes from Nanyang, Henan, known for its premium quality. It helps warm the body, improve circulation, and drive away dampness and cold.
-
Patchouli (Pei Lan): Also called “Awakening Herb.” It has a fresh, clean scent that refreshes the mind, clears humidity, and supports the stomach.
-
Atractylodes (Cang Zhu): We use high-grade southern Atractylodes, known for its strong, rich fragrance. It helps strengthen the digestive system, remove dampness, and fight colds.
-
Angelica Dahurica (Bai Zhi): A herb often mentioned by Qu Yuan, representing integrity and virtue. It has antibacterial properties, clears the nose, and removes dampness.
-
Agastache (Huo Xiang): A common herb in southern China, especially in Guangdong, where I grew up. It helps clear the air, awaken the senses, and balance the digestive system.
-
Dried Tangerine Peel (Chen Pi): From Xinhui, famous for its top-quality citrus peel. Known as “A hundred-year-old peel is worth more than ginseng.” It improves digestion, reduces phlegm, and adds a pleasant aroma.
-
Other Herbs: Including Mint, Perilla, Clove, and Natural Borneol, known for their refreshing, purifying, and health-boosting effects.

🍅 Persimmon (“Shi”)
Machine-stitched for neatness and durability. In Chinese, “Shi” sounds like “everything goes well,” making the persimmon a symbol of good luck and happiness.
